Empty the pockets and hang the jacket on a supportive hanger. Let the clothing air in a clean, dry space before storing it. Use a suitable garment brush gently where the fabric permits.

Do not assume every suit can be steamed or pressed the same way. Check its care instructions, particularly around structured areas, delicate fabrics and embellishments. When in doubt, ask a professional rather than applying heat directly.
Treat stains as a garment-specific problem
Avoid rubbing a spill or applying a general household cleaning solution. Note what caused the mark and speak with a cleaner experienced in the material. A treatment that is safe for one fabric may damage another.
Store with room to breathe
Use appropriate hangers and avoid crowding the garment. For longer storage or travel, choose protection suited to the fabric and keep the suit clean and dry. Check it periodically instead of leaving it compressed for long periods.
